Agios Nikolaos Crete
Agios Nikolaos is a seaside town located on the east side of the island of Crete. Crete has 4 regions - Heraklion, Rethimno, Chania and Lasithi – the capital of which is Agios Nikolaos, a town that was built on the ruins of the ancient city of Lato pros Kamara. One of the town’s unique features is the lake that joins the sea through a narrow canal surrounded by rocky formations and green scenery. Agios Nikolaos is in the near vicinity of beautiful beaches, one of which is located at the edge of the town centre.
Taking a stroll through the town is particularly enjoyable both during the day and in the evening. Shopping is a colourful and vibrant experience. Shops that sell everything from traditional Cretan products, artifacts, archaeological copies to jewelry, souvenirs and fashion styles of the island. Local delicacies to awaken your taste buds and many traditional coffee shops to choose from.
There is a wide choice of restaurants and taverns with traditional local and international cuisine. Something for everyone’s palate. In the beautiful marina, you can find boats for one-day excursions. Agios Nikolaos is also a docking port for cruisers, which you might catch a glimpse of on one of your visits or walks around town.
